Hopkinsville, KY – The Rotary Club of Hopkinsville and its leadership announced the Rotary Impact program in 2022. The Rotary Impact program supports students with plans to pursue higher education for careers needed in the community. On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, members of Hopkinsville Rotary including Andrew Wilson, Kelly Gates, Penny Knight, Dr. Chris Boyett and Jennie Stuart Health President & CEO, Eric Lee came together to announce the third wing of this initiative: Rotary Impact Healthcare.

This initiative is an exciting opportunity for students who want to pursue a career in healthcare. Participants of the program will benefit from a streamlined nursing program at Hopkinsville Community College. This will reduce their study duration from three years to two. In addition, they will receive a $500 stipend towards their college books. Starting with the current freshman class, students will be required to complete courses to be eligible for Rotary Impact Healthcare. Twenty-four students will be selected per class to progress through the program as a cohort, starting with dual credit courses in their junior year of high school. As seniors, students will continue dual credit courses and become co-op students, working at Jennie Stuart Health. During their tenure at Jennie Stuart Health, they will rotate through various departments, gaining hands-on experience and clarifying their career aspirations, all while accruing years of service with Jennie Stuart Health. Upon graduation, they will be Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) and will seamlessly transition into the nursing program. Participants will have the opportunity to work PRN shifts at Jennie Stuart Health and once they complete the two-year program at HCC, they will emerge as Registered Nurses. They will have preferential job placement at Jennie Stuart Health, where they can leverage the tuition reimbursement program to pursue their Bachelor of Science in Nursing all while strengthening our local healthcare facilities.

Jennie Stuart Health is looking forward to this exciting program!
